If you think that a local “host family” like home is a great place to hang your hat and rest your weary bones after a full day’ adventures…..then get ready now to enjoy fascinating Mukono, Kampala and Jinja at our Nomads Home in Kalagi (Kampala – Kayunga road).
Nomads Home is located in a humble neighborhood of just few metres away from Kalagi town, we are nestled away from all the noise of the big city, but close enough to ‘quickly’ get you back to downtown to sight see or party at the pubs and clubs until the birds are chirping.
Our home has:

- Good Kitchen
- Mountain Bikes for Hire
- Camping tents for hire
- 4X4 and Saloon Cars for hire
- Offer laundry services

- Breakfast and Cleaning Services are included and provided daily.
Other available services include: Daily dinner, In-country transport and Airport Transfers. Sports and leisure rental equipment are also available, such as bicycles and volunteering placements arranged.
Guests of the Nomads Home have access to a common room, a small stretcher backyard garden, and will soon have access to open rooftop bar (currently under construction), where you can enjoy stunning nature forest views.
Guests can enjoy daily breakfast and dinner in our Common Room. Here, guests will also find comfortable couches, a satellite TV, along with coffee, tea and a self-serve snack bar. The Common Lounge is available to use 24/7.
The home was started as a place to host volunteers. The home primarily hosts volunteers, but other travelers and tourists are also very welcome to stay. We started hosting people at our home with a goal to make connections, friends and for culture exchange.
For volunteers, it is a place to relax after the intense experiences of the day, a place for to chat while having a beer or two, to rest, watch TV or go for a walk around the neighborhood. From the home, we can help arrange trips and tours around the country. These include wildlife safaris, hiking, white-water rafting, horse-riding, safaris and other community tourism projects.
We are just about 10 minutes’ drive from Mukono town central business centre on an all-weather tarmac road. In Kalagi, the road from Mukono forms a T-junction with the road from Kampala to Kayunga. Mukono the nearest major town is a rapidly expanding city about 45 minutes from Kampala and 60 minutes away from Jinja town- the adventure capital of Uganda.
A portion of all proceeds from this facility goes into supporting projects run by our non-for-profit organization- GVA Foundation-Africa. Visitors and those staying with us are welcome to check on our projects for day or two. We also offer meaningful construction volunteering experience at this facility.
